Our Project
We are a family business dedicated to creating high quality products while staying true to the principles of our foundation; Sustainability, quality and enjoying work.
We set up the Artesans dels Avalls project during 2020, in the middle of our estate in the neighborhood of Can Vila, between the villages of Terrades, Boadella and Les Escaules, in the Alt Empordà region.
The Puig dels Avalls, part of the Serra dels Avalls, dominates the orography of the area, and gives its name to our company – a privileged and at the same time little know rea.
We started our project with a pioneering spirit to provide high quality artisanal products, made with local products, mixing our English roots with our love for the Catalan land.
We currently produce six varieties of artisanal cheeses, all from raw cow’s milk.
Tomme de Terrades: Named after the village of Terrades, ths is a french style tomme from the Pyrenees.
Blau del Mas: A blue cheese inspired by Shropshire Blue, a relative of Stilton.
El Clar dels Avalls: A Caerphilly type cheese, originally from Wales.
L’Eixart: Based on the traditional, and well known Cheshire, from the north of England.
Xedolí: Based on English Cheddar.
Roig Les Escaules: Named after the eighbouring village of Les Escaules, this is our version of the popular Red Leicester.
